Joining Forces 2016

Joining Forces 2016

Remember way back to May? We had a brilliant Joining Forces show, the Mayor of Woking called us "exceptional", and we wowed the crowds with our enthusiasm, professionalism and beautiful work.

Such fun to have our fabulous guest groups, from Shani's adorable children in the Mad Hatter's Tea Party through to the Jhoomers, Bellytricks, Stagecoach, Dancayers, Susan Robinson and some jaw-dropping first timers Hotpant Honeyz Burlesque and Jenny Codman with her LED hula hoop!

As always, we appreciated our staunch friends from First Dance Studios bringing their sparkling numbers. We wish them the very best of luck and full classes at their new premises at Heather Farm near Horsell Common.

Video night is Sunday 11th September at 6:00pm at the studio, break out the popcorn!

If you can't make the Video night you can order your own DVD or BluRay from the online shop.

Best in Woking Gala

Many of you grabbed your dancing shoes only four weeks after Joining Forces to support the Peterson's Fund for Children in our first ever "Best In Woking" Charity Gala.

Joining Forces 2016

We raised £1000 for the charity, and put on an incredible night of dancing, joined by, well honestly, the very best in Woking!

The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress were thrilled, and want to come to the next one, even if they are no longer in office!

A huge well done to everyone!

Party in the Park

On Saturday 9th July, Shani and Emily took two Sci Fi inspired dance numbers to this year's Party in the Park, as part of the H.G. Wells celebrations.

Joining Forces 2016

Attended by almost 20,000 people, our dancers were professional and calm in the face of some organisational difficulties, and WDS are proud to have been one of the most respected dance groups to have performed at the event.

If you missed it, don't worry. These inspired numbers are also being performed again at the Old Time Music Hall at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre, 22nd to 24th September, to mark the end of the H G Wells celebrations.

2017 Show - Resonating Happiness

Performances 17th to 20th May 2017

As many of you may know, First Dance has moved out of their main studio in the Mayford Centre and into the dance studio at Heather Farm near Horsell Common. They will still keep studio two in the Mayford centre.

First Dance's decision was triggered by revisions to the Rent and Rates arrangements at the Mayford Centre, with the subsequent increase in costs making it difficult to keep the large studio running.

Everyone at the centre, including Woking Dance Space, are subject to these revisions, but we want to reassure everyone that we are in a position to stay put.

Classes remain unaffected and plans are well underway for our show next May at the Rhoda McGaw theatre, which we are all really looking forward to!

A few changes that will be happening in September:

We are planning some new events to keep our studio healthy, and focus on our committment to offering quality dance classes to the community. Please let us know if you have any thoughts or suggestions!

More details to come in future newsletters.
