Starts Monday 7th January

Half term is 18th February to

Show Theatre week

13th to 18th May 2013

As Easter is early, Spring term will be a little shorter than usual

Now the pud has been able to settle, and the empty bottles have been carted off by the recycling man, it is time to stop holding it all in and get your dancing shoes back on with us at the studio!

Term starts from Monday 7th January with our full schedule of classes – come on down and bring a friend!

Lets hope 2013 is as much fun as 2012!

Show Dates

Sunday run thru days : 21 April and 28 April (these will be daytime)

Theatre get in : Sunday 12 May (technical crew only)

Act One Tech : Sunday 12 May (mostly evening)

Act Two Tech : Monday 13 May (mostly evening)

Dress Rehearsal : Tuesday 14 May (evening) – possibly open to residents at our local OAP homes

Performances : Wednesday 15, Thursday 16, Friday 17 and Saturday 18 May

This term most of the classes will be gearing up for the show in May.

Don’t worry if you don’t want to perform, but still would like to be involved, as there’s lots of useful jobs and roles off stage. See later about costume making for example. Or why not become one of our front of house staff? Or a backstage dresser/assistant?

And if the lure of the greasepaint (or Max Factor extra coverage) has grabbed you already, then remember all we ask is that you commit to the rehearsals and performance dates

So if you would like to get involved, please let us know and keep an eye out for notices!

Sewing Days

A show needs costumes, and WDS needs you to help us make them!

The fabric has been purchased and we have scheduled a number of sewing days at the studio, all on a Sunday between 9am-4pm:

If you have a sewing machine (and can work it, unlike a certain trustee we could name) then please bring it along.

Otherwise there is a lot of fun to be had cutting, pattern making, prototype modeling, sweeping and generally making tea for the skilled labour.

Everyone is welcome to drop in at any time of the day to lend a hand (with or without ankle-biters, who actually make good fluff busters!). And you never know, you could be the first to model this year’s not-to-be-missed couture creation for the stage...

Congratulations are in order to Beki Tooze for the arrival of her beautiful little boy Ezekiel in 14th November. We’ve also heard that Sophie Murray is expecting a baby this year – so the next generation of WDS dancers are on their way!

We also wish Jodie Read, Lou Bradbury and Liza Mansfield lots of best wishes and good luck for their weddings later on this year!

Die Fledermaus

Six Diva Ballerinas guesting with KASJOG for their production of Die Fledermaus 6th to 9th March at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre.

For more information and tickets visit the KASJOG web site.

And please remind everyone to make sure they don’t use outdoor shoes to dance in for classes. We have had some holes appearing in our £1,600 floor from grit that gets caught up in them – not good.

Cheers *clink*, it's going to be an exciting year for WDS
